Galdr & Stave Magic: Creating Protective Wards

In this immersive class, you will learn the ancient art of galdr and stave magic, focusing specifically on the creation of protective staves used as wards. Rooted in Northern European folk traditions, these symbols are more than marks. They are living constructs activated through intention, breath, sound, and ritual.

Participants will explore the history, folklore, and cultural context of galdrastafir and lukkastafir, gaining a clear understanding of how and why these staves were traditionally used for protection, sealing, and energetic boundary setting. From there, we will move into the practical work of designing, activating, and maintaining warding staves for homes, sacred spaces, and personal spiritual use.
