Immerse yourself in an experience unlike any other: Shield-Maiden Combat Training.

This unique team-building experience empowers women and non-binary individuals to step into the role of a modern-day skjaldmær—a shield-maiden prepared to stand alongside a Viking army.

During this immersive 3-hour training session, you’ll explore the inspiring stories of legendary shield-maidens from the Viking Age and learn how these warriors may have functioned in battle based on historical accounts, artwork, and archaeological evidence.

Under expert instruction, you’ll train with a variety of traditional weapons, including the sword, axe, shield, spear, and seax, utilizing techniques inspired by Historical European Martial Arts (HEMA). Working alongside your fellow shield-maidens, you’ll also learn defensive tactics, shield wall formations, and the importance of teamwork in combat.
